Effects of the sintering temperature of whisker with SnO2•Bi2O3 coatings on the damping behavior in Al18B4O33w/Al composite

摘要
Sn and Bi were together introduced at the interface in Al(18)B(4)O(33)w/Al composite during the fabrication process. The sintering temperature of Al18B4O33 whiskers with coatings strongly influences the coating structure at the surface of whiskers, resulting in a change in damping properties of the Al(18)B(4)O(33)w/Al composites with coated whiskers. There exists one obvious damping peak in the composites with two different sintering temperature of whisker preform, and yet the height and temperature of the peak in both of the composites are very different, indicating that the damping mechanisms of both of the composites are completely different.
