摘要
A profound implementation of educational technologies in history and social science education has been taking place in the last few decades, specifically. This study offers an overview of some of the debates that have taken place since the 1990s regarding the potential of technology to transform educational practices in this field. Attention is focused on the evolution of the hopes and reticence related to the use of digital resources and the change of teacher practices. Some of the key specific features of history education are examined, including the use of digitized historical sources, of repositories, and of an inquiry-based methodology in the classroom, and the results of empirical studies are analyzed. Finally, some key trends and innovations in history and social science education are discussed, identifying some of the main contributions and future directions in the research of this field of knowledge.
