摘要
Stroke in young adults is less frequent than in older ones. We report 168 patients between 18 and 45 years having been admitted to the Stroke Unit of the Department of Neurology in Ludwigshafen within 3 years. These patients have been analysed retrospectively with regard to frequency, gender distribution, localisation, pathogenesis, cause and therapy of ischemic and hoemorrhagic strokes. The results have been compared to recent data of literature. Stroke in young adults is a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge. Young stroke patients should therefore always be admitted to on experienced Stroke Unit.
