摘要
This paper presents, the design of a crescent shaped monopole patch antenna with Defected Ground Structure (DGS), which is optimized and simulated for mobile/wireless applications. The bandwidth of a proposed antenna is enhanced by the addition of parasitic patch and creation of a T-shaped notch in the partial ground plane. The antenna is studied in terms of gain, return loss, radiation pattern and current distribution. This proposed design augments the bandwidth (defined by 10 dB return loss) upto 2.8 GHz in the frequency range of 1.56-4.36GHz, which is two times greater than the standard antenna. It also shows good radiation pattern at various frequencies such as 2.1, 2.4, 2.8, 3.3, 3.5 and, 3.7 GHz within the operating range and performs the broadband operation. Further, the gain of this antenna has been studied which is achieved up to 4.11 dB, which could be applicable in several wireless frequency bands such as UMTS (1.9-2.1 GHz), DCS (1.7-1.8 GHz), ISM band (2.4-2.485 GHz), WLAN bands (2.4/3.6 GHz).
