Preparation and optical absorption of Ag/SiO2 core-shell spheres

摘要
Ag/SiO2 core-shell sub-micron spheres were synthesized via the Stober process, using the silver nanoparticles as the seeds. The Ag nanoparticles were synthesized by reducing AgNO3 with sodium citrate in water. Transmitting electron microscopy (TEM) was used to investigate the morphology of the resulting particles. Optical absorption bands of their spectra reveal the special optical behavior due to the surface plasmon resonance of Ag nanoparticles.
