LIVING ROOMS AND BEDROOMS IN HAVANA, 16th AND 17th CENTURIES

This article is an approach to the domestic furniture of two spaces in the house: the living room and the bedroom. Based on archival, iconographic, and bibliographic sources, a reconstruction is made of what both rooms were like in Havana houses in the first two centuries of the Villa de San Cristobal de La Habana. It provides interpretations on the way of living of neighbours and residents in one of the most important port cities in the Spanish overseas territories.
