Photochromic and optical birefringence properties of azo-dye-doped polymer-grafted lipid-based complex fluids

摘要
The photochromic and optical birefringence properties of azo-dye doped polymer-grafted lipid based complex fluids were analyzed. These complex fluids comprised quaternary mixtures of a phospholipid, a polymer-grafted phospholipid, and a cosurfactant dispersed in water. This complex fluid-based system offers several advantages such as discrete physical/structural states, good signal-to-noise ratios, and low cost fabrication, over amorphous polymeric materials. The biocompatibility of these materials opens the possibility of developing photoaddressable materials based upon biomolecules.
