摘要
This article discusses the relationship between online computer games and folklore, changing and transforming of oral narrative to a new narrative in virtual environments. Computer games can generate groups which are included with new identification gained people in built texts not sure what this means. Therefore, impressive stories in the virtual environment should be scrutinized to be as a applied folklore stories, a new form of cultural expression and a new reproduction. Today visual technologies have significant effect in our lives. However, it seems that the mentioned effective area benefits from power and magic of statement. Especially, it is interesting that, online computer games have been regenerated from historical characters. The computer games can be considered in terms of the reproduction of cultural expressions, art and technology transfer. This was emphasized in the two contracts that were signed in 2003 and 2005 by member states of UNSECO. However in parallel to technological developments, the sources of the games are becoming based on the culture that generates the technology. In general western mythology' heroes and elements have a significant role in that. In this manner the game of Umaykut Efsanesi emerges as a different example since it uses Turkish Mythology as a source. Moreover, it carries visual icons and symbols of many mythological elements to present day. In this article, Umaykut Efsanesi, its mythological narratives and effects on the web will be scrutinized.
