摘要
In this paper the issue of the numerical stability of time-domain BE solution procedures in elastodynamics is discussed with reference to a simple benchmark problem which is apt to be analyzed in different contexts: as a I-D problem, an antiplane shear and a plane strain problem. The simplicity of the problems considered allows to pinpoint the causes of instability and to explain how the choice of the time-step and/or of the BE mesh affects the numerical solution.
