2-Hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazone pyridine monosolvate

The Schiff base molecule of the title compound, C(14)H(12)N(4)O(6)center dot C(5)H(5)N, was obtained from the condensation reaction of 2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde and 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine. The C=N bond of the Schiff base has a trans arrangement and the dihedral angle between the two benzene rings is 3.49 (10)degrees. An intramolecular N-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bond generates an S(6) ring. In the crystal, O-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bonds link the Schiff base molecules.
