Synthesis and characterization of a novel layered titanium silicate JDF-L1

A novel layered titanium silicate JDF-L1 has been synthesized in an SiO2-TiO2-Na2O-H2O-H2O2 template system. It is found that the synthesis of JDF-L1 requires a relatively high alkalinity and an appropriate titanium content. The JDF-L1 samples were characterized by XRD, SEM, IR, DTA-TG and adsorption. DTA-TG studies; combined with XRD and IR spectra, show that JDF-L1 is stable up to 873 K. After activation at 523 K under vacuum, the samples exhibit significant water-adsorption capacities. It is also revealed that JDF-L1 can be intercalated with alkylammonium cations.
