摘要
In this paper, the existing knowledge on scour around the footings of jack-up drilling rigs (spud cans) is summarised. A rule of thumb for the rough estimation of scour depths is given. Selected published field measurements and physical modelling results are presented to give an indication on possible scour depths. Scour depth measurements of the jack-up rig "GSF Monarch" installed in the North Sea in about 25m water depth without scour protection were presented. The analyses showed that the scour depths appeared to be comparatively low. Scour depths increased only slightly during the storm events in the operation period. The scour development turned out to vary locally with respect to surrounding seabed material. It seemed to be likely that the spud can shape and previous gravel dumps played an important role in scour development.
