Design of Sector-beam Microwave Antennas using Metallic Compound Air-fed Array

摘要
A novel kind of high gain sector-beam antenna using metallic compound air-fed array (M-CAFA) has been proposed and analyzed in this paper. By adopting slotted metal plate as partial reflective surface (PRS) cover, stepped metal g round as base and side-wall, and open ended waveguide as feed, such antenna employs fully metallic structure. Thus, it will be suitable for microwave and millimeter-wave applications exhibiting advantages of low feeding loss and low cost. A sample of sector beam microwave antenna working at 13GHz has been presented with detailed theoretical analysis and parametric study. The optimized simulation obtains a sector beam of 32o in horizontal and 8o in vertical, peak gain of 17.5 dBi at central frequency, and return loss less than -10 dB.
