摘要：

The role of free-space optics (FSO) as a transport medium, for high-speed communication services providing connectivity over short distances, is discussed. The applications of FSO includes metro network extensions, last-mile access, enterprise connectivity, fiber backup, backhaul and service acceleration. FSO accelerates the vision of all-optical networks cost effectively, reliably, and quickly with freedom and flexibility of deployment.
