摘要
A Viscous Wall Damper is a wall shaped damper using viscous material which is used mainly in steel structures. The damper is installed between the upper and lower beams of a building. Resistance force occurs by moving resistance plates in viscous fluid when relative displacement occurs between the upper and lower beams. About 90 buildings are using more than 9,000 Viscous Wall Dampers since we began selling them in 1993. Recently, the installation location and installation method of Viscous Wall Damper in buildings have become diversified. It is likely to decrease the capacity of the damper and affect the building frame by shapes of building frames and installing Viscous Wall Damper. There is the need of examination. This report shows test results of two story steel frames with a Viscous Wall Damper installed. This also shows the result of dynamic analysis of this frame compared to the tests.
