Nondipole effects in double K-shell ionization of heliumlike ions

摘要
We investigate angular and energy distributions for double K-shell ionization of heliumlike ions caused by the absorption of a single photon. The differential cross sections of the process are calculated in the near-threshold domain incorporating contributions beyond the dipole approximation. The interference between the electric-dipole and electric-quadrupole transition amplitudes is shown to lead to a forward/backward asymmetry in the angular distributions for the ejected electrons with respect to the incident photon beam. The energy distribution in the threshold area can be fairly well described within the framework of the dipole approximation for moderate values of the nuclear charge number Z.
