Neoangiogenesis is an important event that may signal the healthy development of normal processes such as folliculogenesis, ovulation, and implantation, or it may indicate the development of abnormal conditions such as carcinogenesis, infection, and certain types of infertility. The development of transducers capable of monitoring uterine, ovarian, and pelvic vascularization has allowed study of normal flow in the pelvic organs and the association of certain now abnormalities with anovulation, defects of the corpus luteum, implantation failure, and neoplasia. The authors describe on the advantages and disadvantages of the use of color Doppler frequency and color Doppler angiography for the evaluation of uterine and ovarian abnormalities in adult women.
