Electrosynthesis of sulfur-containing organic fluorine compounds from trifluoromethyl-substituted 1,1-dibromoalkenes using a sacrificial sulfur-graphite electrode

Electrosynthesis of sulfur-containing compounds from 2-aryl-1,1-dibromo-3,3,3-trifluoropropenes was studied using a sacrificial sulfurgraphite electrode. The main products obtained were 3,5-bis(1-aryl-2,2,2-trifluoroethylidene)-1,2,4-trithiolanes, 3,5-bis(1-aryl-2,2,2-trifluoroethyl)- -1,2,4-trithiolanes, 3-(1-aryl-2,2,2-trifluoroethyl)-5-(1-aryl-2,2,2-trifluoroethylidene)-1,2,4-trithiolanes, and 5-aryl-2-(1-aryl-2,2,2-trifluoroethylidene)-5-trifluoromethyl- 1,3-dithiolane-4-thiones.
