摘要
This paper briefly describes the history of machine vision technologies that have evolved in Japan, and discusses states of the art from practical viewpoints. In addition to factory automation and office automation, social automation is likely to play an important role in future society, where machine vision with real-time video image processing capability is expected to be a core component.
