摘要
Malignant transformation of the cells leads to a change in their metabolism, characterized mainly by increased glucose uptake and its conversion to lactic acid, which has a significant signaling role in the tumor microenvironment. Lactic acid is important for energy cell metabolism: it has an immunosuppressive role, can promote angiogenesis, repair mechanisms, invasiveness, and metastasis. The study of therapeutic opportunities of targeting lactic acid metabolism currently represents an outstandingly exposed field of research that could contribute to improving the prognosis of cancer patients.
