摘要
In his study, The Genesis and Structure of the Cartesian ego, Denis Kambouchner arrives at the conclusion that Descartes profoundly transformed his own idea of the soul (in his Second Meditation) by preferring the term mens to that of anima (cf. also Descartes, Response V,II, 4). By this, Descartes wanted to attain a concordance between the definition of the souls and that of the ego cogitans reduced to its evident properties. He was only partially successful in this, failing to completely abolish the ontological distinction between the ego and the soul.
