摘要
The gamma-Ca2SiO4 (gamma-C2S) binder is synthesized at lower temperatures, consumes less limestone, and does not require quick cooling. However, gamma-C2S is a non-hydraulic phase. Test results of the present work showed that mortars made with gamma-C2S binder did not setting and hardening until they were exposed to water and gaseous CO2, simultaneously, and could fully harden within 24 h. During hardening process, calcite (CaCO3) and highly polymerized silica gels (SiO2) were formed, which were responsible for the strength development. The results here provide new insight into potential means to yield prefabricated building products with gamma-C2S binder, efficiently. (C) 2016 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
