Anisotropy of diffusion processes in HCP metals and alloys

A universal temperature dependence of the self-diffusion anisotropy (SDA) coefficients for h.c.p. metals with c/a < 1,633 is received within the framework of knowledge of linear correlation between SDA characteristics and c/a ratio. The results are confirmed by analysis of impurity-diffusion anisotropy and are in agreement with the characteristics of the point-defects anisotropic migration calculated by computer simulation for alpha-zirconium. The estimation method for SDA promoting factors is proposed; the anisotropy of the binding energy for the vacancy - ''ultrafast'' diffusing impurity atom pair is discovered for h.c.p. zirconium. The anisotropy of the compensation effect parameters is estimated within the framework of the elasticity model; the analysis of diffusion process mechanisms for anomalous h.c.p. metals is performed. By the some methods, the anisotropy of interdiffusion, is analysed for h.c.p. alloys of zirconium-titanium system.
