Optimization of heat treatment parameters in ZA84 magnesium alloy

摘要
The heat treatment parameters of ZA84 magnesium alloy have been optimized using differential thermal analysis (DTA), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques. With 335 degrees C, the time (48 h) required for maximum dissolution of precipitates has been obtained by carrying out the DTA of the alloy at different solutionising time (24, 48, 72 and 100 h). The solution treated samples have been aged at 180 degrees C for different time intervals (0-36 h) and the peak hardness values are obtained. The mechanical properties evaluated for the optimum heat-treated conditions are reported. (C) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
