The overall elastic response of materials containing coated inclusions in a periodic array

摘要
The effective elastic properties of composites with aligned thinly coated short fibers are derived in this work. The coated inclusion problem developed by [Cherkaoui M, Sabar H, Berveiller M. Micromechanical approach of the coated inclusion problem and applications to composite materials, J Eng Mater Technol 1994;116:274-278] is extended to the case of a periodic spatial distribution of coated inclusions. The micromechanical approach is based on the Green function techniques as well as on the interfacial operators. The morphological and spatial distribution of the coated inclusions is accounted for by using the Cluster scheme developed by [Motinari A, El Mouden, M. The problem of elastic inclusions at finite concentration. Int J Solids Struct 1996;33:3131-3150]. The theoretical results for a composite of Glass bead particles with elastomeric coating in an Epoxy matrix are in good agreement with experimental measurements of Amdouni et al. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
