Spectral Characteristics and Divisibility of Enteromorpha and Sargassum based on Geostationary Ocean Color Imager (GOCI)

Enteromorpha and Sargassum bloom occurred in the Yellow Sea on 2013 synchronously, which brought new challenges for the green tide monitoring by satellite remote sensing. Based on GOCI data, the spectral difference of these two kinds of green tide was analyzed. We found that: the spectra of Sargassum was going upward with increasing wavelength in the blue band, while Enteromorpha showed a downward trend; in the red band, the spectral reflectance values of Sargassumwas significantly greater than Enteromorpha; in the near-infrared band, the spectral reflectance values of Enteromorphawas slightly larger than the Sargassum. On these basis, the divisibility of Enteromorpha and Sargassum was analyzed, which showed that the future green tide algae species distinguishing algorithm should utilize the significantly differencein the red band.
