In telemedicine a growing need for security is obvious. There are several approaches to integrate security in HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) or standards like DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communication in Medicine). These definitions are independent from the kind of implementation or use of programming languages. Here an implementation will be described which integrates a secure transfer of data in an existing system by using the transport layer security (TLS) and Java.
