A device for the study of the surface tension of liquid metal solutions with an increased elasticity of intrinsic vapors

摘要
This device makes it possible to determine the temperature and concentration dependencies of the surface tension of liquid metal solutions from the change in the shape of a lying (sessile) drop. In particular, the device is used to study amalgams of refractory metals, one of whose components features an increased elasticity of intrinsic saturated vapors. The surface-tension measurements of mercury and gold amalgams have demonstrated the high reliability of the device and accuracy of the results obtained.
