Objective: In our research, we determined the oral health behaviors and knowledge levels of the Turkish population with diabetes.Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional study, a self-reported questionnaire was used to assess the oral health practices, knowledge, and awareness items of the patients with a confirmed diagnosis of type 2 diabetes. Results: A total of 439 respondents completed the questionnaire in a 6-month period. A majority of the participants (67%) were unaware about diabetes -periodontal disease relationship. However, only 9.6% of patients with diabetes were referred to a dentist for oral health. The rate of participants who received information about diabetes related increased periodontal risks by dentists was 19.4%.
