Management of deep neck infection

Deep neck abscesses in children may be common infections, that is, peritonsillar abscess or carotid space abscess. It is important for pediatricians to understand deep neck abscesses because of the life-threatening nature of their complications. This article discusses the causes, anatomy, clinical presentation, and complications of deep neck abscess. Diagnostic imaging treatment modalities, both surgical and nonsurgical, also are presented.
