Model investigation of hydrogen absorption and desorption kinetics of nanocrystalline magnesium

摘要
The kinetics of hydrogen absorption and desorption of nanocrystalline magnesium powder was investigated adopting a new model, which quantized the improvement efficiency of the hydrogen absorption and desorption (Pd-doped or undoped). The results show that the ball milling process can decrease the activation energy of hydriding reaction, increases the hydriding rate of Mg powder by 30 times. The hydriding rate of Mg-1wt%Pd powder with 30 nm particle size is 6.6 times faster than that of the Mg powder with 30 nm. The hydriding activation energy of the former was calculated to be 38.74 kJ/molH(2) by the model.
