摘要
The role of corrosion products formed by pre-corrosion of AISI 1018 mild carbon steel on the efficiency of the polymerizable corrosion inhibitor propargyl alcohol in 4 M HCl at 80 degrees C under laminar and turbulent flow conditions was studied. Propargyl alcohol is less efficient on the pre-corroded steel than on freshly ground specimens due to the presence of corrosion products, such as cementite (Fe3C) and a C-rich phase formed by acid hydrolysis of cementite. The adverse effect of pre-corrosion can be suppressed by proper optimization of the inhibitor composition and the inhibitor dosage.
