摘要：

In 1066 William the Conqueror won the Battle of Hastings and was crowned king at Westminster. In 1085, he ordered an investigation which informs and confirms the Norman hold on England, but also provides information about the situation during the reign of Edward the Confessor. The Domesday Book and its thousands of names and tax information constitute an inexhaustible support for study. Analysis of this data allows us to understand the changes affecting the local society due to this conquest. The aim of this article is, through names and surnames, to study the impact of migratory waves, the regional distribution of populations, the potential markers of ethnicity and the strategies deployed by the actors in this uncertain period.
