摘要
The structure of the hafnium diboride (0001) surface was studied by impact-collision ion scattering spectroscopy. It was found that the clean surface, which is terminated by a flat (1x1) Hf layer at room temperature, turns into a surface with Hf adatoms after heating over 2000 degrees C. This is probably caused by desorption of boron from the subsurface. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
