THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT OF FDI INFLOWS TO SELECTED NEW EU MEMBER STATES

European transition economies have been experiencing steady inflows of foreign capital over the last decade. In some cases these investments were located only in few industries changing significantly the economies of the countries. The aim of this paper is to analyse whether and how these massive FDI inflows together with industry preference affected the countries' environmental conditions. The paper will focus on the evolution of GDP, inflows of foreign capital and evolution of CO2 emissions for selected new EU member states - V4 countries. It will analyse the possible existence of long-run relationship between selected time series for each of the chosen countries.
