A novel graphical method for the study of meshing surfaces

摘要
In this work we introduce a new graphical method for studying meshing surfaces (such as in cutting tools) based on the capabilities provided in AutoCAD for solid three-dimensional modeling. Using the AutoLISP programming language, the cutting tool tooth profile is determined via a sequence of geometric manipulations in AutoCAD. The results are then compared with the results obtained via an analytical method. An example is shown for calculating the profile of the worm-tool used for the manufacturing of a shaft with a square cross-section.
