INTER-ANNUAL AND SEASONAL VARIABILITY OF GROUNDWATER DISCHARGE IN SELECTED LOWLAND CATCHMENTS

摘要
The research was undertaken to determine the groundwater discharge in selected lowland catchments in Poland. Seasonal and inter-annual variability was analyzed in multi-year period of 1981-2016 in ten lowland catchments in Poland. Baseflow was extracted from daily streamflow hydrograph using HYSEP methods. Its contribution to the total discharge is within the range of 79-88%. Monthly mean groundwater discharge was calculated to analyze seasonal variability within the water year. It was proved that monthly maximum occur usually in March, whereas monthly minimum takes place in August till September. Analysis of annual groundwater discharge has revealed differences in inter-annual variability. Signals of groundwater discharge decrease has been detected in recent years in catchments of Mlawka, and Wkra rivers, while opposite tendency has been observed in Liwiec. No significant tendencies were detected in other catchments. Differences in groundwater discharge regime should be explained by further analysis of differences in precipitation recharge and evapotranspiration.
