摘要
The aging effect of a 0.2 mol % Fe-doped 0.62Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O-3-0.38PbTiO(3) single crystal was investigated. The authors found that aging induced a double ferroelectric hysteresis loop and a giant recoverable electrostrain of 0.8% at an electric field of 1.2 kV/mm in the < 001 >-oriented tetragonal crystal. This result is much higher than the strains obtained in crystals near the morphotropic phase boundary under the same field. Such aging effect is attributed to a point-defect-mediated reversible domain-switching mechanism. Large electrostrains (>0.55%) at 1.2 kV/mm for a broad temperature from room temperature to 160 degrees C suggest that the aged single crystal is a promising electromechanical material.
