4-Tetra-O-benzoyl-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-1-arylidine thiosemicarbazones have been synthesised by the interaction of tetra-O-benzoyl-beta-D-glucopyranosyl thiosemicarbazide and aryl aldehydes. These compounds were screened for their antibacterial and antifungal activity against E. coli, S. aureus, P. vulgaris, Pseudomonas, Bacillus, S. typhi, A. niger and Fusarium. The identities of these new compounds have been established on the basis of usual chemical transformations and also by UV, IR, NMR and Mass spectral analysis.
