The assessment of early pregnancy by color Doppler and three-dimensional ultrasound

During the two-years' period we performed an extensive study of the morphological and functional finding on the earliest human development in 270 normal developing pregnancies. Typical embryonic features during the first trimester of pregnancy were clearly outlined by three-dimensional ultrasound. Functional studies were simultaneously performed using conventional color Doppler and power Doppler technology. Main advantages of 3D static and power Doppler include improved assessment of complex anatomic structures, surface scan-analysis of minor defects, volumetric measuring of organs, spatial presentation of blood flow information and three-dimensional examination of fetal skeleton.
