摘要
An artificial cardiac pacemaker is a medical device used for regulating the beating of the heart by using the electrical impulses delivered by the electrodes on contraction of the heart. The pacemaker used at present produces a fixed heart beat and it does not vary according to human activities. Hence this may lead to severe abnormalities in human and even leads to death. To avoid this problem an artificial cardiac pacemaker is designed in such a way that it produces variable heart beat according to the human's physical activities. The physical activity level can be monitored using a special motion sensor called as MEMS ACCELEROMETER. This can be externally programmed and hence allows the cardiologist to select the optimum pacing modes for individual patients. Hence the device is known as rate responsive type pacemaker.
