In this work a detailed model for the design of multiproduct batch plant is presented. The impact of the intermediate storage tank allocation is analyzed considering different alternatives. In previous works presented in the literature, the relationship between the tank location and the semicontinuous stages was ignored. In the present model we analyzed several expressions related to the operation time for the stages of the batch plant. These expressions are included in the Mixed Integer Non Linear Model (MINLP) formulated for the plant design.
