摘要
Volcanogenic massive sulphide deposits in the Iberian Pyrite Belt can be linked with the deposition and evolution of fine-grained silicilastic sediments represented by dark-grey to black metapelites. We present a lithogeochemical study of 60 samples from the Aljustrel and Neves Corvo mines and exploration drill holes in the Portuguese IPB segment. Geochemical fingerprinting of these dark-grey to black metapelites allow us to discriminate barren from altered/mineralized samples using the ratios Al2O3/(Al2O3+Fe2O3+MnO), Fe2O3/TiO2, (As+Sb)/Sc, (Cu+Zn+Pb)/Sc, and 5x[(Fe2O3+MgO+MnO)/Al2O3]. Geochemical data indicate that sulphide mineralization in dark-grey to black metapelites does not necessarily imply that early sediments were deposited in anoxic (to euxinic) environmental conditions.
