Treatment of acute and chronic gastrointestinal inflammation

摘要：
Most diseases of the equine gastrointestinal tract have an inflammatory component. Thus, anti-inflammatory treatment is frequently part of the therapeutic plan. This article is aimed at providing a fundamental basis on which to design therapeutic strategies for treating gastrointestinal inflammation. A brief discussion of the physiology and pathophysiology of inflammation is followed by a description of the mechanisms of action of anti-inflammatory drugs and their application to acute and chronic inflammatory disorders of the equine gastrointestinal tract.
