Neurofibroma derived from the peroneal nerve: a case report

Neurofibroma is a tumour that may arise anywhere along the course of a nerve, from its root down to its terminal branch. However, a neurofibroma arising from the common peroneal nerve or lateral popliteal nerve is rare. Surgical removal of the tumour might compromise motor and sensory functions of the nerve. We present a rare case of intramuscular neurofibroma arising from the common peroneal nerve with preservation of overall nerve function and a satisfactory result. Using this case and a literature review, we discuss the characteristics of this tumour, its clinical and radiological features and the surgical approach. To cite this journal: Med. Chir.
