摘要
Because of difficulties such as special tool design, fixture design and welding method, for welding T-joint in conventional friction stir welding (FSW). For solving these problems, in this paper adopt a new method, which a tool pin penetrated through the skin and it reached the stinger. By adopting this method, a single tool, single pass welding procedure will produce a sound joint. The heat-affected zone produced by this method is much more less compare to conventional methods. This friction stir welding have been carried out by using a properly designed clamping fixture that allows to fix the two plates AA5052 as skin and AA6061 as stinger. This work has been carried out on a vertical milling machine. The direction of welding is normal to the rolling direction.
