TRANSPLANTATION AND PSYCHIATRY

Some important psychiatric problems may appear before and after transplantation. Even if transplantation provides physical improvement, patients need also psychiatric and social support. There is not enough empirical data for informing mental health professionals serving this field. People who care for transplant recipients and candidates are under the risk of immense stress. These care givers who are frequently disregarded, should be paid attention in investigations. In this article, in the light of the literature transparantation is reviewed in terms of psychiatry.
