Facile synthesis of 1,3,4-thiadiazole appended to coumarins as antimicrobial agents

A new series of N[4-acetyl-4,5-dihydro-5-methyl-5-(6,7-disubstituted-coumarin-3'-yl)-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl]-acetamide (4a-f) were synthesized from semicarbazones 3a-f and acetic anhydride. The structure of all the synthesized compounds was confirmed by analytical and spectral (IR, H-1, C-13 NMR and MS) data. All the compounds were screened for their pharmacological parameters for bioavailability using Osiris property explorer. Amongst the title compounds 4a, 4d and 4e have shown excellent drug likeliness and drug score values and did not exhibit any drug toxicity viz. mutagenicity,
