摘要
Bruno Scrosati shared his views on the historical evidence of the development of lithium batteries. The research efforts of Luigi Galvani at the University of Bologna, Italy and of Alessandro Volta at the University of Pavia played a key role role in the development of these batteries. Volta's work had a tremendous impact on the progress of the electrochemical science by catalyzing a rapid evolution of the battery history with the cumulative discoveries of many important electrochemical systems in the nineteenth century. Georges-Lionel Leclanché, the French engineer disclosed his battery based on a zinc rod negative electrode and a manganese oxide-carbon mixture as positive electrode immersed in an aqueous ammonium chloride solution in 1866. Another key step in the battery evolution was marked by the French Scientist Gaston Plantè who invented the lead-acid rechargeable battery in 1859.
