摘要
After a short review of the auger and bored pile testing and construction monitoring systems an evaluation of their respective capabilities and limitations is made. The author considers the extent to which the respective information provided is complementary and interchangeable. Special attention is given to the construction monitoring advantages, reliability and efficiency as a management tool. Finally, the problem of the usefulness of monitoring as a tool for controlling and assessing the risk of over-augering is discussed..
